GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup with Grasser Racing

Lamborghini Factory Driver Sandy Mitchell to make Grasser Racing debut at Nürburgring after back-to-back IMSA wins

Fresh from his back-to back wins in the American-based IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Lamborghini factory driver Sandy Mitchell will this weekend make his first appearance for the Grasser Racing Team in Europe.

Mitchell, the 26-year-old from Forfar, will replace the injured Maximilian Paul in the Austrian Lamborghini team for the latest round of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup at the Nürburgring in Germany. The Scot will be reunite with fellow Lamborghini factory drivers Mirko Bortolotti and Franck Perera as the trio target victory in the three-hour race in their Temerario GT3.

“First it’s great to hear Max is making great progress in his recovery following his serious DTM crash at the Norisring,” Mitchell, personally backed by Tunnocks and Dama Fortuna Premium Tequila, said. “He has completed his first test since the accident, but racing at the Nurburgring is still too soon for him. I wish him a speedy recovery. It will be my first race with the TGI Team by GRT and I’m looking forward to working with them at the Nürburgring, where I’ve raced before, and hope we can achieve a strong result together. Mitchell heads back to the GTWCE for his one-off 2026 appearance having won the last two IMSA GTD Pro races at Road America and Virginia International Raceway with team-mate Andrea Caldarelli and the Pfaff Motorsports team. Action at the 3.2-mile Nürburgring, which will see 55-cars represented by 10 manufacturers start the three-hour race, gets underway on Saturday with two 90-minute Free Practice sessions. Qualifying takes place on Sunday morning with the race starting at 3pm local (2pm UK).
