Sandy aims to end Euro GT3 Sprint Cup season on a high with Barwell and Dama Fortuna Tequila.

Lamborghini factory driver Sandy heads to Valencia this weekend (Sept 19/21) to tackle the final double-header in the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Pro Sprint Cup. For the 25-year-old from Forfar, who will again partner Hugo Cook in their No78 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2, prepared by Barwell Motorsport and backed by Dama Fortuna Premium Tequila, it will be his first time racing at the Spanish circuit.

“I’ve raced at a couple of Spanish tracks previously, but never at Valencia, so this should be a fun weekend,” Sandy, explained. “I’ve spent time on the sim learning the circuit and it certainly looks an exciting one to race on.”

This will be the fourth year the GTWCE Sprint Cup will have raced on the 14-turn, 2.48-mile Circuit Ricardo Tormo Valencia, with previous outings having produced some dramatic racing.

“The Valencia circuit certainly has a reputation for delivering close, exciting racing,” Sandy, personally-backed by Tunnocks, continued, “and Hugo and I, plus the whole team at Barwell are determined to finish the season on a high this weekend. “Throughout the season we’ve shown the car has the pace. Not only has this been Hugo’s first season racing in the Pro Sprint Cup, where his performances have been impressive, but also Barwell’s debut season at this level. As usual the guys have worked tirelessly right through the season. It’s only been moments of misfortune which have denied us podium finishes. So we all head to Spain with one aim in mind: to get our first overall top-five finish. And who knows, if Lady Luck finally smiles on us, our first podium.”

A total of 40 cars will line up for the two 60-minute races this weekend, The action starts on Friday with a 90-minute Free Practice session at 9.40am (local) followed by a 60-minute Pre-Qualifying at 4pm.

Saturday qualifying starts at 9am, with the opening 60-minute race at 2.15pm. Sunday mirrors that schedule with qualifying again at 9am, but with the one-hour race starting at 2.45pm (all times one-hour ahead of UK).
