British GT Championship: Snetterton

July 10, 2025

Lamborghini factory driver Sandy Mitchell returns to British GT Championship action at Snetterton this weekend (July 12/13) with Barwell, hoping to repeat his dominant performances of 12 months ago.

The 25-year-old from Forfar, fresh from impressive performances in the USA and the Spa24H, will again reunite with team-mate Alex Martin in their No 78 Dextra-backed Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2 prepared by Barwell Motorsport. Twelve months ago Sandy and Martin won both one-hour sprint races on-track, but were ultimately denied the second victory following a post-race penalty. This weekend they’re targeting more victories at the 2.96-mile Norfolk circuit.

Sandy: “We were the fastest car all weekend last year, and everyone in the team is aiming to repeat that this weekend,” former champ Mitchell, who also qualified on pole position 12 months ago, stated. “I’ve finished on the podium at Snetterton every year since I won the title in 2020, so it’s a circuit I know and love, and really enjoy racing at.”

Snetterton was also the venue where the Scot became the youngest-ever British GT winner, aged 16 years 169 days — a record which still stands today — when he won his first-ever GT4 race at the fast track in 2016. This weekend’s outing will be the third of Sandy’s four outings in this year’s British GT Championship, and he is eager to return to the top step of the podium.

Sandy: “I have a restricted appearance schedule in British GT this season, but I’m determined to maintain my record of winning races,” the Scot, personally backed by Tunnocks, continued. “We dominated last year and with the pace Alex has shown so far this season, allied to Barwell’s ability to deliver a super-fast car, I see no reason why we shouldn’t be fighting for pole position and victories again this weekend.”
